Time Management and Office Productivity training in Samoa

Hugh Kearns from Flinders University Staff Development and Training Unit will be in Samoa at the end of October training local staff on time management and office productivity. He will be located in the capital of Apia, training a small group to manage their time and prioritise their multiple responsibilities.

The In-Country Training project is an initiative of NZAID and AusAID and is being conducted on behalf of the Samoa Chamber of Commerce that aims to bolster private sector growth through improving the productivity of individuals contributing to business. By having the skills to manage their time and priorities, individuals will be able to achieve more and as a result, the organisations they contribute to will gain more from their contribution.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Manage themselves so that they feel in control of their time, able to balance work, family, extended-family and community services/positions, and their own individual commitments.
  • Achieve more of the right things with the time and resources available to them.
  • Apply a prioritising and task management system so that tasks are completed on time, and support personnel’s time is used efficiently.
  • Set up or improve the work flow system for critical and high frequency tasks in their office.
  • Effectively issue and receive verbal instructions.
  • Structure meetings and achieve effective meeting outcomes
