Workshops
Research to Outcome - Friday 13th April 2012

For anyone interested in helping the process of getting research and skills into commercial success, we offer a one day Research Commercialisation Workshop. The original program, developed by Anthony Francis, Managing Director of Flinders Partners, was the first of its kind in Australia, and has since licensed worldwide and universally applauded for its novel approach.
The workshop takes a very practical approach, allowing you to test the commercial application of your or your team's ideas and learn how to realise success. We feel knowing a little more about the commercialisation process is valuable for all researchers at Flinders, as we see the societal benefits to be had in getting Flinders research outcomes out there into the wider community.
Through the this workshop, Anthony Francis, Flinders Partners Managing Director, will show you just how your research can have “commercial” value, and how you can create a positive impact on society through the “commercialisation” of your research.
Register your interest to attend this workshop and learn more about it.

Partnering Program
Are you looking for an industry partner to put forward an application for ARC or NHMRC funding for your project?
Would you like access to an extra $1000 to help you build your relationship with your chosen partner?
The Flinders Partners Partnering Program can help you do just that. The Flinders Partners Partnering Program has been developed with the support of the DVCR’s office, to help researchers at Flinders find an appropriate industry partner for input on their project and financial assistance.
The Flinders Partners Partnering Program is a 12 month service package designed to enable researchers to develop a valuable relationship with a commercial entity, and to put together a persuasive collaborative grant submission. Through workshops, mentoring, market research and funding, participants of the program will possess all the tools they require to help them successfully acquire collaborative research grants.
Interested parties should submit a Partnering Program Application Form through their heads of School or equivalent. All submitted applications will undergo a review panel (comprised of both Flinders University and Flinders Partners staff), and successful applicants will be invited to attend a two hour proposal workshop to discuss their project’s potential and the scope of services to be provided through the Partnering Program. Please note: there are only five places available in each round.
From there, participants of the program will have access to 6 hours worth of Flinders Partners time, allocated as outlined below:
- Market Validation – 2 hours
- Partner Identification Coaching – 2 hours
- Aid with writing the grant application – 2 hours
Participants of the program will also have $1000 in funds available to them to advance their relationship with a commercial partner. Expenditure of these funds will need to be pre-approved, and should be put towards things such as travel, professional fees and entertainment.
The first round of applications for the Partnering Program will close on May 25, 2011. Successful applicants from this round will commence the Program in July 2012.
A second round of applications for the Partnering Program will close on November 2, 2012. Successful applicants from this round will commence the Program in February 2013.
